The Full size deck is produced in a limited edition of 2000 copies. Card dimensions are 70 x 120 mm in size. Cards are printed on 350gsm art paper, and are finished with UV varnish with a Gold edging. The deck comes in a specially designed box with lid. Deck comprises 36 cards, plus 2 alternative Man and Woman cards, for same sex readings, and a title and joker card. Also included is a 60 page printed instruction booklet explaining the background to Lenormand, card meanings, sample spreads, and the story that inspired the deck.
The Legend Of The Wizard Laird was inspired by a tale Neil heard from an old work colleague. The dark tale was just the story He needed to create a deck that would sit along side the Tyldwick Tarot and the Malpertuis Lenormand, but would be darker in theme.
This deck was the last one that Neil would complete before his sad passing. He completed all the major work, the card images, and the booklet, but was only part way through the packaging process. In looking through his files I found 3 difference versions of the lid for the box, but no base designs. Having taken on the responsibility of the Malpertuis legacy, my first real design work was to finish this design. I will confess to being more than a little apprehensive about the process, and the consequences of getting it wrong.
However, when the first samples arrived, I couldn't have been happier. The moody image definitely captures the feel of the whole deck.
